Thanks, Al. I probably was a 'precocious youngster' once (I wrote my first book, 'Wine Snobbery', in 1987, at the age of 26; I recalled the experience in my Substack review article on Naomi Klein's 'Doppelganger'). I suspect I'm now on my way to being an 'old geezer'.

Thanks for this, Andrew. I’ve only just seen it because of Toby’s current trip to NZ that I just posted about. The only thing I’d add is that impact investor Legatum is the common denominator in these ‘straddlers’. GB News, ARC, Daily Sceptic, UnHerd etc. And seeing their connections to Brexit and the managed demolition of the Tory Party makes me suspicious of the aim of these repeated limited hangouts?

I'd certainly be more than a little suspicious of GB News, the supposed 'home of free speech'. Until they had to absent themselves because of the election, it was more like the home of Conservative (and Reform) MPs. It's amazing that Neil Oliver is still there. I wrote an article last year for the Daily Sceptic about attempts to smear him as an antisemite, to pressure the channel into getting rid of him: https://dailysceptic.org/2023/02/09/no-neil-oliver-isnt-an-antisemite/ But the attack didn't work. Oliver has since had his programme cut from two hours to one, and moved around, but he's told me that GB News doesn't attempt to censor him. I would have been more outspoken in this article about the constructive dismissal of Mark Steyn, but (as Margaret Anna Alice has correctly described) there's only so much I can say in the Daily Sceptic. One reason why I started my Substack.

Thank you Andrew for explaining so well my personal strategy. The extent of the evil we are up against is not for everyone to hear.
